Arcadis has secured a major design contract for the new Digby Ferry Terminal in Nova Scotia. The company was selected by Public Services and Procurement Canada and Transport Canada to serve as the prime consultant for the project.

Under the contract, Arcadis will lead the architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and engineering for the new ferry terminal. The project will replace the existing Digby Ferry Terminal with a modern two-storey facility designed to improve passenger services and operational efficiency.

The new building will combine the terminal and ticketing functions into a single structure, replacing two separate buildings that have served the site since the 1970s. The redesigned terminal will remain within the existing site footprint while offering upgraded facilities for travellers and staff.

The terminal is a vital transportation gateway linking Digby, N.S., with Saint John, N.B. It supports passenger and vehicle movement across the Bay of Fundy while playing an important role in regional tourism and economic growth.

The new facility will feature dedicated areas for ticketing, passenger waiting, arrivals, public washrooms, and terminal administration. It will also include intelligent transportation communications systems and improved staff amenities.

Arcadis says construction will not disrupt ferry service.

“We’re delighted to be expanding Arcadis’ ferry terminal work in Canada through the revitalization of the Digby Ferry Terminal,” said Neo Mahfouz, practice group manager, Transit Facilities and Marine Structures at Arcadis. “Our aim is to deliver a modern, resilient, and efficient terminal that is accessible to all.”
