07 27 00 Air Barriers
The DOWSIL™ Silicone Air Barrier System – previously offered under the Dow Corning® brand name – provides airtight performance that exceeds industry standards, accommodates building movement and eliminates system failures due to material incompatibility.
The only water-based 100% silicone air barrier complemented by a fully compatible system, this system helps architects improve the airtightness of the building envelope, saving energy and reducing costs of uncontrolled air leakage. It alleviates shortcomings of current air barriers that do not meet updated installation and performance standards.
The DOWSIL™ Silicone Air Barrier System, which delivers long-term UV resistance, primerless adhesion, vapor permeability and breathability, is ABAA evaluated and provides performance that passes NFPA 285 assembly testing. The water-based, low-VOC formulation can be applied by a one-coat spray or be roller-applied at temperatures as low as 20°F (-6°C).
The DOWSIL™ Silicone Air Barrier System features DOWSIL™ DefendAir 200, a 100% silicone liquid-applied air and water barrier. A range of high-performance components complements the air barrier, including a fluid-applied flashing, precured silicone rubber strips and corners, and select DOWSIL™ silicone weatherproofing sealants. And, for greater peace of mind, a full-system warranty is available
