From crudo bar to sails: Immersive restaurant design

Sid Lee Architecture has crafted the interior design for Mare, a new gastronomic destination in the heart of Montreal’s Old Port. The project transforms Mediterranean culinary art into a fully immersive spatial experience.
Mare features marble, fine woodwork, brick, and raw stone that are interwoven with soft fabrics and subdued lighting.
A series of vaulted ceilings evoke the rhythm of sails and the lines of traditional Italian architecture.
The restaurant’s glass facade offers glimpses of its lively interior with portholes and deep rust-hued metal panels framing the passageway upon entry.
The main dining room is distinguished by its higher, vaulted ceilings, with a marble checkerboard floor. At the heart of the space is a crudo bar, designed as an open central island in black marble, which sets the tone for the spatial experience.
