08 80 00 Glazing
Technical benefits: Okatech combines three glass panes. The metal mesh is placed between two of the glass sheets at the front of the IG unit, facing the exterior of the building.
The metal mesh faces the sun and screens out the negative effects of solar heat gain. The IGU:
· removes interior hot zones;
· eliminates glare conditions;
· redirects the natural daylight to illuminate the far reaches of the interior spaces; and
· reduces heating, cooling and artificial illumination costs.
A wide variety of metal meshes can be placed within the glass cavity of an Okatech unit.
Solar control coatings are applied behind the mesh along with inert gas injections between the second and third layers of glass to create a formidable daylighting thermal IG unit.
Sound barrier enhancements are created along with environmental features such as bird safe design attributes and enhanced privacy characteristics.
The reflectivity of the metal creates an attractive and distinctive exterior aesthetic.
