CSC Vancouver Chapter November Luncheon
CSC Vancouver Chapter November Luncheon
CLF BC’s Embodied Carbon Specification Guidelines
Presented by Zina Berrada at Ryder Architecture, Molly Walsh at Ryder Architecture, and Stephanie Dalo at CLF BC
Activity Summary:
This session will explore an initiative by Carbon Leadership Forum, British Columbia (CLF BC) that establishes a cross-disciplinary Embodied Carbon Specifications Working Group, Led by Ryder Architecture, to develop embodied carbon specification guidance and template language. Participants will gain an overview of embodied carbon, how it is measured, and the current regulatory and industry landscape in British Columbia. The presentation will examine the role specifications can play in reducing embodied carbon and review different approaches to incorporating embodied carbon requirements into project specifications. Drawing on the expertise of attendees, the session will be discussion-focused, inviting participants to explore key barriers, share lessons learned, and contribute to the development of practical and effective strategies for integrating embodied carbon into specifications.
Objectives:
- Be able to explain the principles of embodied carbon and the evolving industry landscape surrounding its assessment, reporting and reduction strategies.
- Gain understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to integrating embodied carbon requirements into project specifications.
- Recognize various strategies and best practices for developing and implementing embodied carbon specifications.
