The 10th annual Design & Health World Congress & Exhibition (WCHD 2014) is coming to Toronto this summer.

The event, organized by the International Academy for Design and Health (IADH) and Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, focuses on health promotion and factors in the built environment encouraging healthier lifestyles. Increased awareness about the importance infrastructure can play on health is leading to changes in design.

An issue at the forefront is regenerating existing structures to provide the foundation for healthier lifestyles. IADH and WCHD 2014 brings together the next generation of architects, engineers, and designers to discuss these new design principles.

“The 10th Design & Health World Congress & Exhibition in Toronto this July is the world’s leading forum for built environment professionals exploring the interaction between the design of the physical environment and human health, well-being, and quality of life,” IADH’s Marc Sansom told Construction Canada Online. “Up to 1000 researchers and practitioners, including architects, designers, engineers, and construction professionals, meet every year to discuss how the latest research and scientific findings are being applied to support innovation in the creation of healthy cities and communities.”

IADH is now accepting abstracts for the event taking place in Toronto from July 9 to 13. Click here for more information.
