Construction is officially underway for Lansing Square (LSQ), a 6-ha (15-acre), multiphase master-planned development in North York, Toronto.

Last month, real estate developer Almadev broke ground on the residential project, marking the start of vertical construction.

Phase one includes two residential towers: LSQ1, a 43-storey tower with 462 units, and LSQ2, a 30-storey tower with 338 units, including 83 affordable rental suites. Both will be supported by a shared underground parking garage. First occupancy is projected for 2028.

In addition, LSQ will also bring 37,161 m2 (400,000 sf) of office space, 4,645 m2 (50,000 sf) of retail, and a new 0.48-ha (1.2-acre) public park. A rezoning application submitted earlier this year proposes an expansion to 232,258 m2 (2.5 million sf) of gross floor area to increase housing and commercial capacity in this employment-designated zone.

The project team includes WZMH Architects (master plan), Wallman Architects (LSQ1 and LSQ2), Truong Ly Design (interiors), Ferris + Associates (landscape), and Bousfields Inc. (planning).
