On Tuesday, February 2, the Toronto Chapter of CSC is hosting what it calls a ‘must-attend seminar for technical representatives.” Presented by Russ Snow, CTR, CSP, the talk explores how product manufacturer reps can offer the information needed by specification writers.
The chapter’s teaser for the seminar reads:
Specification Writers are a different breed. They come in all shapes and sizes, but they share a strong desire to know and it is the technical representative’s responsibility to assist with this. But what do they really want? INFORMATION. How can a technical representative help? BY PROVIDING THIS INFORMATION.
There are a number of Technical Representatives out there today, all with a number of different tactics on how to get specified, some are good, and some are bad. Join Russ Snow, a long-time product representative who’s been in the business for a number of years, share his knowledge on how to convey the right information, ensuring no one’s time is wasted.
Snow’s presentation will include the different types of sales calls, and 10 rules for product presentations and meetings, ranging from ensuring participation to avoiding the pitfalls of negative selling. (Specifiers are also encouraged to attend, prepared to join in the discussion.)
Snow has also written for Construction Canada; his article, “Understanding Waterproofing,” won the 2013 F. Ross Browne Award.
The event takes place at the Toronto Skating, Curling and Cricket Club, kicking off at 5:15 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinner and the presentation. Registration is $50 for members, $55 for non-members, and $60 cash at the door (prices include HST).
