Construct Canada builds biggest success yet

Celebrating its 23rd year in Toronto, Construct Canada set a new record earlier this month—24,200 attendees, according to show organizers.

The country’s largest annual show on the design, construction, and maintenance of the built environment, the event encompasses smaller shows like the HomeBuilder & Renovator Expo, PM [Project Management] Expo, DesignTrends, Concrete Canada, and the National GreenBuilding Conference. One of this year’s highlights was the Expo Hall, which featured 1050 exhibits (a sell-out) and highlighted 200 products that were new or considered to be ‘green.’

In addition to the show floor, there were two standing-room-only roundtables and a wide selection of professional development opportunities, comprising some 450 speakers. As in previous years, Construction Canada co-sponsored a stream of seminars devoted to the building envelope. Successful talks included “The Ins and Outs of Building Façades: The Challenges vs. The Benefits” by Les Klein (Quadrangle Architects) and Mark Brook (BVDA Engineering Ltd.), along with “What Architects Should Expect of Sustainable Structural Engineering” by Mike Moffatt (Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd.).

The event, run by MMPI Canada, will return next year to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre’s South Building from November 28 to 30. For more information, visit www.constructcanada.com.
