Concept designs reveal a new vision for subway extension

New station designs for Yonge North Subway Extension have been revealed as procurement launches for the project’s final major contract.
The Ontario government and Metrolinx have started the search for partners to design and build the five new stations included in the Yonge North Subway Extension.

The project will bring TTC Line 1 subway service approximately 8 km (4.9 miles) farther north from Finch Station into York Region, with new stations in Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill.

New conceptual designs have been shared, showing what the five new stations could look like. Three of the stations—Steeles, Clark, and Royal Orchard—will be built underground. Bridge and High Tech stations will be at surface level.
The new stations along the extension will bring transit closer to 26,000 more people and 22,900 more job opportunities while reducing travel times by up to 22 minutes.
