Position Summary: The Wind Turbine Installation Supervisor is a safety-minded worker that has turbine construction general and technical experience and access to reliable transportation. The ideal candidates for a specialist position are positive leaders, self starters, responsible and team-oriented individuals capable of setting clearly defined milestones and goals for multiple different trade disciplines while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and environment. The Wind Turbine Installation Supervisor works closely with his Superintendent each day to assist in the delegation of duties to subtrades and monitor the progress of the project. In addition, the Wind Turbine Installation Supervisor will review real time work with leaders from the manufacturer and client to ensure the critical paths of the project and project milestones are being met.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Is responsible for all tasks given to him, along with his superintendent.
  • Attends and/or conducts job site related meetings with crews, clients, and manufacturers.
  • Assists the Superintendent in determining any site needs regarding materials and supplies.
  • Assists, along with Superintendent, in establishing manpower needs to provide stability on site to ensure milestone goals are met on time.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of the crews, oversees and ensures the quality of production while respecting the construction requirements, Quality Plan, safety standards and environmental regulations of the area.
  • Ensures safe working conditions of the site workers and reports any concerns or issues to the Superintendent and/or Health and Safety Advisor.
  • Track and build daily reports for delays and production management.
  • Addresses and resolves problems in collaboration with his Superintendent.
  • Ensures that all safety rules are followed on the site.
  • Ensures that the Job Hazard Analysis is in place on his specific site and review the daily Field Level Hazard Assessments written by crews to further ensure safety throughout the critical path of the construction process.
  • Systematically carries out inspections before the commencement of the work.
  • Ensures that productivity is respected and optimized.
  • Receive delivered materials on site in accordance with established procedures; verifies and stores materials as needed.
  • Evaluate logistical needs, prepare required requisitions, and obtain quotes, and inform the logistics department of any need according to procedures.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical certifications/card/diploma, in a related installation construction trade, required according to the laws and regulations of the work location (an asset).
  • Five years of construction industry experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and failures, to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Experience in inspection and use of tooling both electrical and hydraulic.
  • Valid driver license.
  • Good physical condition, good reflexes, functional senses, and strength.
  • Ability to effectively lead team members towards a common goal or task.
  • Comfortable working in high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations.
  • Ability to work in teams and communicate both verbally and written.
  • Ability to solve problems and good decision-making skills.
  • Manage emergency situations, work under pressure and stress.

The schedule requires weekend availability, day shift, overtime and is based on approximately 10 hour shifts.
