We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our offices in North Vancouver, BC.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will prepare detailed estimates of preliminary material, labour and equipment costs for renovation projects, and must be able to read project drawings, specifications and understand the scope of work involved. Duties include - but are not limited to - sourcing and obtaining relevant project quotes from suppliers and subcontractors; analyzing tender documents and recommending successful tenders; establishing and maintaining the tendering process, and setting up cost monitoring and reporting systems/procedures; preparing weekly cost and expenditure reports and forecasts throughout each renovation project; preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors; liaising, consulting and communicating with all relevant professionals and homeowners to share budget updates, changes in project scope and associated impacts on budgets and schedules; and analyzing historical project cost data in order to improve the ongoing effectiveness and efficiency of the estimating process.
Successful completion of a university program in civil or construction engineering technology or a related field is required for this position. Must have several years' experience as a qualified construction quantity surveyor, and must be able to maintain a high level of professionalism and positive demeanour while working, along with the ability to follow directions and respect lines of authority. Demonstrated ability to interpret technical specifications (blueprints, drawings, instructions, spec sheets, etc.) as well as a natural attention to detail that minimizes site errors and ensures tasks are completed to clients' and to the company's high standards is required for this position. The incumbent will have a high level of interpersonal communication skills, including excellent English (reading, writing, speaking) and customer relations skills. Must have a valid BC driver's license and a reliable vehicle for use while at work.
Salary & Benefits
The position pays $77,000 per year, based on a 37.5 hour work week. Benefits include extended health and dental benefits, a company cell phone and 2 weeks' vacation per year.
