Green roof discussion for CSC Hamilton/Niagara

Tomorrow, CSC's Hamilton/Niagara Chapter will be hosting a luncheon seminar on green roofs, led by Dr. Karen Liu.

Now a director at Xero Flor International, Liu established the first North American field facility dedicated to green roof research at the National Research Council (NRC), and has conducted several field studies across Canada to examine the technology's climate sensitivity. She has also won the F. Ross Browne Award for her work in Construction Canada magazine.

Liu will provide an overview on vegetated roofing, focusing on the engineering performance and design considerations of these assemblies. She will also highlight the various categories where such systems can contribute to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.

The $25 event will take place Thursday, October 20, at the Royal Canadian Legion at 828 Legion Rd., in Burlington, Ont. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with things finishing by 2 p.m. For more information, contact Terry Johnson, FCSC, via e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
