Updated SectionFormat / PageFormat Available

SectionFormat and PageFormat have been updated and combined into a single publication, offering a uniform approach to organizing specification sections.

The original SectionFormat standardized the arrangement of specification text in a project manual's sections using a three-part format; PageFormat, on the other hand, provided a consistent arrangement of text on specification pages within the manual. The new unified resource is intended to help all sectors of the industry communicate more complete and accurate information by ensuring the integration of specifications across many different systems.

Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) and its joint co-publisher, the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), conducted an industry-wide review process to ensure the two formats kept pace with the evolution of MasterFormat and the OmniClass Construction Classification System (OCCS). The updated version reflects these changes, along with advancements in information technology and electronic publishing.

Aside from substantial reduction of variations between CSI and CSC formatting, significant revisions to SectionFormat/PageFormat include:
• commentary revisions explaining the use of titles to increase precision, eliminate conflicts, and clarify each article and heading;
• additions relating to sustainability requirements;
• greater freedom to use electronic media techniques on a wider variety of displays; and
• recommendations for graphics, fonts, URLs, and website publication.
