Manitoba will be upgrading several highways and roads as part of the province's 10-year Highway and Bridge Renewal Plan.

As part of Manitoba's 10-year, $4-billion plan to improve the province's highways, upgrades to Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 6 and PTH 10, as well as several provincial roads, will undergo construction work this year.

"This government has made an historic investment in our Manitoba roads and bridges with our 10-year Highway and Bridge Renewal Plan," said Premier Greg Selinger. "Today we are moving forward on those investments to advance local priorities in the North and to recognize the importance of these links to increasing safety and building in the northern economy."

The province will undergo additional pavement projects for The Pas and provincial routes (PR) 282, 283, 373, 374, and 375.

This year's provincial budget for highway/bridge renewal and maintenance is $525 million, up 50 per cent since 2006 when Manitoba made a commitment of $4 billion over 10 years for highway capital construction and maintenance.
