Upgrades to the Ravensview Wastewater Treatment Plant (Kingston, Ont.) included improvements to effluent quality and a 30 per cent increase that anticipates the city's growth over the next quarter-century.

The Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO) has awarded the team behind a Kingston wastewater treatment plant for showing how the profession contributes to the province's economic, social, and environmental quality of life.

J.L. Richards & Associates received the Willis Chipman Award for its work in the extensive upgrades to the Ravensview Wastewater Treatment Plant. The firm provided project management, engineering, architectural, and planning (including environmental assessment preparation). Kingston's largest ever municipal project, the $115 million in enhancements were completed 10 per cent under budget and six months ahead of schedule. The facility is being named as one of Canada's most environmentally progressive.
