The new update for North America's construction documents standard is now available. Co-published by CSC and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), the changes found in MasterFormat 2010 Update are the first under a new annual revision cycle that incorporates suggestions by design/construction professionals. "This new revision process helps CSI and CSC respond quickly to industry needs because it offers a greater level of predictability when it comes to resolving proposed changes," explained CSC President Brian Colgan, RSW. As discussed in the March 2010 issue of Construction Canada, the current update includes an entirely new division (i.e. Division 46–Water and Wastewater Equipment), revisions to Division 44–Pollution and Waste Control Equipment, and sections related to polished concrete. The MasterFormat Maintenance Task Team's (MFMTT's) next revision review workshop takes place later this summer. Results from that meeting will be announced in the spring of 2011. The new version can be found at www.masterformat.com and purchased through www.spex.ca. Purchase of the book includes a pdf, the revised numbers/titles list, and an Excel file with transition matrices for the 1995, 2004, and 2010 editions.
