The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced it will be bringing its conference to Toronto, teaming up with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) for a joint event in 2017. "This will be one of the biggest gatherings of the profession held in Canada," said AIA president George Miller, FAIA. "We look forward to building an exciting schedule and arranging social events—the key, though, will be the setting and Toronto's unique architectural offerings." In conjunction with RAIC's convention, the 149th annual meeting, held for the first time in Canada, will take place from June 8 to 10 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) and the Direct Energy Centre. In other news, the two organizations renewed their memorandum of understanding (MOU)—a reciprocal agreement offering simultaneous membership in both associations.
