The 2009 International Achievement Awards were given out, with Eventscape, a Toronto-based company, winning an outstanding achievement award in commercial interiors for the Montclair Plaza in California.

Two Ontario companies were among the 2009 winners of the 62nd International Achievement Awards, presented by Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) for design excellence in specialty fabric.

Winner of an outstanding achievement award in the category of retractable awnings and canopies was Rolltec Rolling Systems (Vaughan) for its restaurant rooftop patio cover. A second outstanding achievement award went to Toronto-based Eventscape for its contributions to the Montclair Plaza in California, under the interiors and upholstery (commercial interiors) category.

Entrants were encouraged to use specialty fabric of all sizes and types and to submit projects within the 28 categories. Submissions from around the world competed, with projects judged by industry experts and architects. Wining projects were selected based on workmanship, uniqueness, function, complexity, and design.
