Building envelope expert, Tony Woods, left a significant mark on Canadian building performance.

The Building Performance Institute (BPI) has launched a Canadian residential construction award honouring Tony Woods, energy efficiency expert and CSC member.

The Tony Woods Award for Excellence in Advancing the Home Performance Industry in Canada is meant to complement another accolade named for the late air barrier guru south of the border. It will be given to an individual who advanced the home performance industry through dedication and activism. This includes not only efforts at promoting quality assurance, but also the development and introduction of new standards and certifications.

Woods, a frequent contributor to Construction Canada, was a member of BPIâ??s board of directors and president of Canam Building Envelope Specialists. He was widely regarded as an expert on the subject of air leakage control.

The inaugural Canadian Tony Woods Award will be presented at the Energy Retrofits for Houses: Affordable Comfort for Canadians conference in Toronto next month. For more information, visit www.bpi.org/woodsaward. The nomination deadline is September 30.
