| Vancouver tower gains top environmental certification |

Vancouver's Shaw Tower is the first building in British Columbia to earn BOMA BESt Level 4 environmental certification. This is the highest achievable level in the Building Owners and Managers Association's (BOMA Canada's) program, attained by only five other Canadian buildings. Operated by Shaw Communications in partnership with Westbank Projects Corp., Shaw Tower was recognized for demonstrating high performance with low energy consumption and diligent tracking. The building performs well in the areas of energy and water resource management, waste and emission reduction, and indoor environment and management systems. For example, last year alone, the building's recycling program and use of recycled products diverted nearly 100 metric tonnes of electronics, paper, plastic, and glass from landfills. Other initiatives include green programs for tenants such as battery recycling, commuter ride-sharing, and a joint landlord/tenant action committee.
