North American infrastructure: Confederation Bridge in top 10

The Confederation Bridge, the link between Prince Edward Island and mainland New Brunswick, was named one of the continentâ??s most important infrastructure projects improving quality of life.

The bridge connecting Prince Edward Island with New Brunswick has been named one of the 'top 10' North American infrastructure projects of the last 75 years by the International Right of Way Association (IRWA). The 13-km (8-mi) Confederation Bridge was the only Canadian project to make the short list of projects improving citizens' quality of life. Ranking in at number six, the bridge was joined by these U.S. projects:
10. Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco, Calif.).
09. I-10 Katy Freeway Expansion (Houston, Texas).
08. Austin Clean Water Program (Texas).
07. City of Phoenix Light Rail (Ariz.).
05. 2nd Tacoma Narrows Bridge (Wash.).
04. Trans-Alaska Pipeline.
03. Hoover Dam (Ariz./Nev.).
02. Turnpike Suncoast Parkway (Fla.)
01. Interstate Highway System.

IRWA comprises Canadian and U.S. engineers, appraisers, property managers, surveyors, and other professionals involved with developing real property for transportation, water, and energy projects.
