Concrete recognition in Ontario

Held in December, the 2008 Ontario Concrete Awards honoured projects for their remarkable use of concrete as a primary construction material. Winners included:
• Architectural Merit: Picton's Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Factory (Lapointe Architects);
• Architectural Hardscape: Brampton's Chinguacousy Skatepark (City of Brampton);
• Infrastructure: Wheatley's Talbot Trail Bridge (Municipality of Chatham-Kent);
• Material Development & Innovation: Toronto's Bay Adelaide Centre (St. Marys CBM);
• Mid- to High-rise Residential & Structural Innovation: Hamilton's West Village Suites (Dundurn Capital Partners);
• Specialty Concrete Products: Etobicoke's 'Lien on Me' House (Coreslab Structures [ONT]);
• Structural Design Innovation: Toronto's Humber College Building B (Barry-Bryan Associates); and
• Sustainable Concrete Construction: Etobicoke's 'Lien on Me' House (The Holmes Group).
