Deadline approaches for copper design awards

Until December 31, architects can test their copper designs' mettle by submitting them for awards.

Does the patina of your roof make others green with envy? For two more weeks, the Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association (CCBDA) and the U.S. Copper Development Association (CDA) are accepting entries for their 2009 North American Copper in Architecture Awards.

With categories for both new construction and restoration/renovation, the program is open to all architects and contractors representing projects with significant application of architectural copper (or alloys). Judging is based on several factors, including:
• copper design;
• integration of the material with the overall design;
• craftsmanship of installation; and
• general excellence in innovation or restoration.

Last year's winners ranged from university buildings and historic landmarks to residential projects.

Deadline for entry is December 31, 2008. Visit www.copper.org/applications/architecture/awards/submit.html.
