Concrete knowledge: CSC and CPCI announce precast seminars

Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) and the Canadian Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute are launching a series of seminars dealing with architectural and structural precast concrete.

The educational session adapts information found in the 03 45 00-Precast Architectural Concrete and 03 41 00-Precast Structural Concrete Tek-Aids. These resources represent a significant advance in the use of the material. They identify and describe recent technologies associated with chemical additives, new reinforcement materials, ways to obtain higher strengths and earlier cure rates, and developments in polished concrete floor finishes.

Both the seminars and Tek-Aids dispel outdated notions regarding precast concrete, educating design/construction professionals about newer, proven concrete practices. CPCI has made an arrangement with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) for continuing education credits, based on one credit per hour of instruction.

Seminars will be held in the following locations:
• Toronto (September 25);
• London, Ont. (September 29);
• Cambridge, Ont. (September 30);
• Vancouver (October 3);
• Ottawa (October 29);
