Ottawa's Rideau Hall won a restoration award in this year's North American Copper in Architecture Awards with its 1486-m2 (16,000-sf) copper batten seam roof, 195-m2 (2100-sf) custom copper gutter system, and a brass snow fence.

Three Ontario projects were recognized in this year's North American Copper in Architecture Awards.

Winners include:
• Restoration/renovation—Old City Hall (Toronto), The Ventin Group Architects;
• Restoration/renovation—Rideau Hall (Ottawa), Robertson Martin Architects; and
• New construction—Rose Theatre (Brampton), Page & Steele Architects.

The Copper Development Association's (CDA's) Andrew Kireta Jr., said the awards recognize and promote building projects for their outstanding use of architectural copper and copper alloys. The program showcases projects that highlight craftsmanship, attention to detail, and architectural vision.

The competition attracted entrants from all over North America, with 27 submissions this year. The Canadian Copper and Brass Development Association (CCBDA) and CDA divided the projects into two categories—restoration/renovation and new construction.
